The Town of Milford is located in Otsego County in the central Leatherstocking region of New York State. Approximately 3,000 people live throughout this rural township, which lies about 13 miles south of Cooperstown and approximately 10 miles east of the City of Oneonta.
The Susquehanna River runs the full north-to-south length of the town. The river, surrounding hills, farms and small communities have shaped Milford's landscape, economy and way of life for generations.

The incorporated village lies at the northern end of the township and serves as a historic residential and community center.
Portlandville
Located along Route 28 near the center of town, Portlandville is home to Milford Town Hall and provides convenient access to I-88.
Colliersville
This historic hamlet is situated near the intersection of Routes 7 and 28 and has roots reaching back to Milford's earliest settlement period.
Milford Center
A rural community along Route 28 near the site of Matthew Cully's early settlement in the 1770s.
Cooperstown Junction
Located along Route 7 near County Route 35, the junction reflects the town's long connection with regional rail transportation.
Goodyear Lake Area
The southern part of town offers access to the Susquehanna River and Goodyear Lake landscape, including boating, fishing and scenic views.
